Permionics have developed special low fouling hydrophilic membranes having high COD and BOD tolerances, based on which we introduced the revolutionary concept of directly treating the effluent through membrane system and recycling of water. These membranes are able to handle high TDS and SS loads and give recycle quality water, which can directly be used in the process thereby reducing fresh water intake and conserving precious resources. These membranes are able to take in TDS and COD of about 40,000 ppm directly.
Our membrane system clubbed with an evaporator will make an industry almost zero discharge industry thereby reducing pollution related problems and making the company eco-friendly. Such effluent treatment systems have been supplied for treating effluents from Textile Dyeing, Biotech & Pharma, PCB manufacturing, Vegetable Oil Manufacturing, Pesticides industries, etc. The supplied staged systems enable recoveries of 80 - 85% of the wastewater. |
Spiral Wound Membrane elements are extensively accepted and used in the chemicals manufacturing sector for treatment of the effluent being discharged from a variety of units like pesticides and insecticides, bulk drug units, formulation units, metal finishing industry and photographic industry.

Key Application Areas:
- Treat composite streams to recycle water and reduce the overall volumetric load to the evaporator.
- Recovery of expensive metals from waste solutions.
- Removal of poisonous, heavy metals from discharge streams.
- Recovering of silver from fixer rinses.
Major Clients:
Gujarat Insecticides, Orchid Pharmaceuticals, Hindustan Lever,
Asian Paints.

Permionics has supplied effluent treatment systems for textile dyeing factories. The systems installed are multi-staged RO systems to treat wash water and NF systems for salt recovery from dye bath effluent. Our systems are installed as secondary treatment, i.e. after primary treatment of pH correction and BOD / COD reduction. |

We give below a brief overview of membrane system in a typical dyeing factory.
- Segregate the dye bath effluent and wash water streams. Dye bath stream will be treated using a Nano Filtration (NF) system and wash water effluent will be treated using a 2-stage RO system.
- We can achieve about 65 - 70% recovery from NF system for dye bath effluent.
- Segregation of dye bath effluent from wash water will result in lower TDS level in wash water, thus allowing the possibility of taking higher recovery. By segregating these streams, we found that the TDS of wash water comes down to around 3500 ppm from 5000 - 6000 ppm, as is the case when the streams are not segregated.
Key Application Areas:
- Salt recovery from dye bath along with colour removal.
- Recycling of water from the different washes to reduce effluent discharge load to evaporator.
- Recycle water fit directly for use in process.
Major Clients:
Leeds Exports, Shiva Shakthi Processors, Clifton Processors, RBR
Garments, Goldenwear Garments (Jordan), JBF Industries.
